July 17, 2025. Mary Turzillo and Geoff Landis On Target Hall of Fame Inductions - 2025, North Ridgeville, Ohio.
Mary Turzillo and Geoff Landis are true examples of success for On Target Fencing. They embody all that Coaching wants and expects from students. They reliably attend practices, and are friendly, smart, curious, fearless in competition and dedicated to improving fencing for all. Typical students they are not. Mary and Geoff both started fencing at the Berea Recreation Center in 2012. Mary was 72, and a retired English Professor from Kent State University while her Husband Geoff was 58, and a working Scientist specializing in Mars Robotic Landers at NASA, National Aeronautics Space Administration. Both are experts in their field.
Over the years, they have competed in every kind of competition ranging from In House Competition to Local then Regional then at the National and International level, in both individual and team events. Everytime giving their best, learning along the way, making friends and representing On Target to the world.
No one can say they are world class fencers, except for their demeanor on and off the strip. That being said however, Mary has won more National Level Medals in her age categories of 70 Plus and 80 Plus than all other On Target Fencers combined. All done with a smiling and sweaty face.
They are wonderful to know and fence with.
